Maulejo was born unexpectedly in June of this year. Mirna Lay, being unemployed at the end of January, decides to stay home to share the summer holidays with her children. However, they are affected by Covid-19 in March, generating fears and uncertainty about what the future will bring. These conflicting emotions lead her to turn on the oven to satisfy the family’s cravings, starting to make carrot cake, lemon pie, rumcake, mamallena, banana candy and chocolate candy, the most requested by her son Alejandro.
Motivation to Undertake
One day talking with friends about what are they going to do now? What is going to happen in the country? What could be invented? they motivate her to sell the cakes they had already tried. A childhood friend offers to help her with the logo design and the name comes from the combination of the names of her two sons: Mauricio and Alejandro: MAULEJO.
Delights Being Offer
They offer sweet and savory artisan empanadas. Cakes in individual servings and also in larger sizes for special orders. They have just included food dishes such as: tamales, mixed minced with beef, pork, chorizo and chicken, BBQ wings, chicken tenders and 100% beef burgers ribs.

Despite not having a first physical contact with the customer, for MAULEJO Bakery it is important to have a warm interaction with each one. Their opinion helps them improve and bring their products and services to other customers.
Future Plans
Mirna Lay wants to continue expanding the menu, as new ideas for dishes and flavors for empanadas and cakes are born every day. Many of these come from their customer’s ideas. She would also like to offer her delicacies to provinces in the interior of the country.
