After 22 years of working in Market Research, Leyda decided to go back home with the idea of taking care of her children and working from home, but the latter did not happen due to family problems and the arrival of a change of life with a partner that has the tendency to stop many women’s lives: depression.
However, she fought to achieve a purpose in life and discovered the world of paper flowers. She was so fascinated by it that she started practicing with YouTube tutorials, focusing on canvas frames with messages to thank someone for something. She also received the support of her daughter who motivated her and helped to open her entrepreneurship account on Instagram in August 2018. In this way, the fantabulous adventure called Leyda’s Flowers began, a name inspired by the way her husband called all the flowers that flooded the living room of the house, and so for the first time, Leyda began charging for her creations.
The Discovery of “Quilling”
At the beginning of 2020, this entrepreneur discovered “quilling”, and since she took the first workshop with @vanesavergel_design (Venezuelan artist) she has not been able to stop “painting with cardstock strips”.
Leyda´s Flowers is handmade art with paper (cardboard). She makes frames with paper flowers and “quilling” or filigree frames (technique with cardstock strips). The creations are themed and personalized with a name, initials or messages.
She also works on canvas of different sizes and frames (or portraits) with glass. She also makes paper flowers to decorate activities, flower crowns and flower arrangements in pots.
It’s Always a Good Time for a Gift
Leyda’s Flowers creations are ideal to give on birthdays, anniversaries and special celebrations (such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas).
Her creations are also highly requested to decorate rooms, halls, events, offices, welcoming newborns, reproduce company or entrepreneurial logos, thanking someone for something special or for someone special, convey emotions, even to treat oneself and pamper yourself.
Some of her art pieces have traveled to other countries. Some for relatives in the United States, others bought by tourists at a fair in Casco Viejo. They have also been acquired by travelers from Brazil, Canada and England, and even Italy, for friends where her daughter studies.
Creations that Generate Emotions
Generally Leyda performs creations requested for gifts, but as she indicates, her main objective is to transmit positive emotions to the person who receives one of her art pieces. Make the person feel special, unique, loved and important. This is the reason, Leyda invests a good part of her time, getting to know the tastes of the client and the person who will receive the piece of art. The first, is to make the person feel that his or her feelings were transmitted through the art piece and the second is to make the receptor happy, feeling that what she received is in accordance with her personal tastes.
