ATP and PROMTUR Maintain Close Contact with Industry to Reactivate Panama’s International Promotion

The Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) and the International Tourism Promotion Fund (PROMTUR) maintain close coordination with national and international industry players, to prepare and adjust tourism promotion strategies to be implemented as soon as they are generated. market conditions.

On Tuesday April 14, the World Meeting Tourism Day, both institutions sent a message of encouragement to the Panamanian Association of Professionals in Congresses, Exhibitions and Related (APPCE): “There is no time to lose and that is why we remain in close communication with the tourism industry, gathering information, adapting existing plans and redesigning incentives for national and international promotion of the various products that Panama offers, including: meeting tourism, “said Iván Eskildsen, general manager of the ATP.

The meetings industry promotes at the international level the capture of applications for congresses, fairs and exhibitions, international sporting events and incentive trips, while PROMTUR is in charge of positioning the destination Panama internationally and connecting it with priority markets.

In the framework of the emergency by COVID-19, the sector’s objective is to ensure that the meetings scheduled this year in Panama are not canceled, but are postponed until when the isolation measures are lifted, both for this and to attract new events.

A key strategy is to provide peace of mind and security to the organizers that Panama remains the best destination, since the country has taken sanitary measures quickly and responsibly, showing transparency, solidarity and administrative capacity in the midst of the global emergency.

PROMTUR President Fernando Duque said that “what we seek is to increase our presence in international markets to reactivate sales as soon as circumstances allow.”

Tourism operates on the basis of an integrated ecosystem, where a segment – airlines, tour operators, organizers of major events, hotel segment, travel agencies, digital booking platforms – has implications across the chain.

That is why the tourism industry has been invited to show its unit by participating this Tuesday, April 14, at 11 am, in the virtual conference of the Global Meetings Industry Day GMID20, with the intention of obtaining the greatest attendance at a virtual conference.
