Shenzhen, the Chinese Silicon Valley

From being a millenary fishing town, to become one of the most important technological centers of the world. Shenzhen became an innovative metropolis, thanks to its proximity to Hong Kong (only 17 kms), and to an experiment that had the objective of transforming this poor section of continental China into one of the four most important economic zones in knowledge and technological advancements.


Shenzhen is famous for being one of the cities with more millionaires. This is why dreaming big is possible, if a person studies, works hard and leads an advance tech company. There are multiple success stories and that is the reason why there has been large investments in universities and research centers.
For its increasing technical operative advancements Shenzhen is known as the Chinese Silicon Valley. One of the main tourists attractions is the contrast between its oriental roots and the first world skyscrapers downtown.


Mobility
Is easy to move around the city thanks to a good public transportation system. You can choose a taxi, personal driver, buses, and the metro lines that continues to expand. There are five metro lines working where all is bilingual (Mandarin and English language). You can pay with money or a travel card called “Shenzhen Tong”. You can also rent a bicycle or be more adventurous and take a moto-taxi to go to a place nearby.
Places to Visit
On the southeast you find the Nanshan Disctrict, where you can visit the Nanhai E-Cool, an old Sanyo manufacturing plant that hosts more than a hundred creative companies. Nearby, the Shekou neighborhood, where you can visit Sea World, (is not an aquarium) where you find western style restaurants, coffee stores and clubs.
If you have seen Panamanians in China through social media visiting scale replicas of famous buildings and structures is most possible it was from “The Window World” with over 130 mini replicas. Also there is “Splendid China Folk Village” where you can walk across 26 miniature towns that are evidence of chinese cultural heritage.


You have to do a shopping tour for techonological gadgets at Huaqiangbei District. Here is the biggest electronics market in China, you will find cellphones, drones and even more complex computers. The three more popular markets are SEG Electronics, Huaqiang Electronics, and Cyber. Also there are hundreds of stores with original products and imitations to choose.
Shenzhen is a window for modern China with western style. The economic forecast of this city is the continuous growing of it through the border crossings of Futian and Husu where the Shenzhen special economic zone is located. The city mantra is “Life is Efficiency and Time is Money “, that you can feel on the streets through the amazing technological development this city has.
