Backyard Brewery, Traditional Flavors Inspired in Good Brewery

Visiting a new restaurant is always an event. If we add that you have a microbrewery, you can feel lucky. And if you also have a family history with generations involved in the brewery, consider yourself a lucky person.

At Backyard Brewery you choose the traditional and craft flavors of good beer. Its best recipe is the 100 years they enjoy in the brewing branch, with a family tradition that goes from great-grandfather to the current generation, with Johann Schauer as owner.

The Beginning

Johann Schauer studied in Germany, and has more than 20 years of experience creating all kinds of beer styles. He has worked as a brewer in Germany and Panama, with professional internships in Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil, Santa Lucia, Peru, Chile and Holland.

After a successful trajectory in the beer industry, he wanted to re-start on a smaller scale as an entrepreneurship, which would pay tribute to the family tradition, and what a better way than brewing craft beer.

The origins of Backyard Brewery began at home, with small containers, creating formulas and new types of beer. Seven suppliers were visited, to choose the right equipment and make the necessary adjustments that would guarantee an efficient production with the best flavors, as a final result.

Company Philosophy

This entrepreneurship emerged in 2017, with a 20-liter pilot plant to put together the recipes that would start this adventure. In 2018 they had the complete manufacturing facility and began production in May of that same year . A month later, they decided to open their doors.

At Backyard Brewery they have a space for customers to visit their small brewery and taste the beers, together with a variety of fingerfood. Its facilities invite you to feel like home, surrounded by a rustic and modern environment, between a mixture of wood and metal, ideal for having a picnic with friends.

Brewing Community

All lovers of good beer will find in this microbrewery, an ideal place to learn about the family tradition on production processes, while listening to great music such as rock and reggae roots classics, as well as contemporary hits, to experience a relaxed and unforgettable moment.

Its patio with green areas invites Visitors to have a picnic style “Beer Garden” typical of German culture, and large enough to host private events, prior to reservation.

Its Menu includes hamburgers, wings, mozzarella sticks, a mixed tray for three people, artisan pizza, Pretzel, German sausages and “choripan”. These menu options can be enjoyed with beers such as: Märzen lager, Pils, Vienna Lager, Blonde Ale, Porter, Stout, IPA, Weissbier, among others with seasonal fruit flavors such as passion fruit and cherry.

The Märzen beer  is the favorite style of these experts, with family stories and tradition.

Future Plans

Due to the pandemic, an upward effort was minimized for almost a year. However, the Backyard Brewery team, who is characterized by being always motivated, decided to reinforce the strategy and give themselves new opportunities to do different things and take a 180 ° turn in almost all decisions.

And from this experience arose the need to pack products for Delivery, making itself known more as a small business.

This pandemic also brought learnings, which they embrace. This leads to the beginning of a first expansion that will increase their capacity by 130%.
