Isla Parida, a Natural Destination Full of Treasures to Discover in the Gulf of Chiriqui

The Gulf of Chiriqui is a marine park, a treasure full of beautiful surprises, with natural paradises that can be enjoyed by all Visitors. However, there is an island that stands out for being the largest within this marine and ecological sanctuary located in the waters of the Pacific sector of Chiriqui.

Isla Parida is a destination full of beaches, ecological trails and an exuberant fauna with animals such as: monkeys, macaws, snakes, crocodiles and iguanas of various types. Being part of a marine park that has been protected by law since 1994, the island has a nature little affected by the hand of man, as it has huge cedar and oak trees.

Fishermen’s Community

Isla Parida is one of the two inhabited islands within the Gulf of Chiriqui, with a very rich artisanal fishing activity. This has helped Punta Jurel to have a community of fishermen, ensuring Visitors a culinary experience with traditional food dishes made with fresh fish and shellfish from the sea.

Beaches and Activities

This Pacific paradise of Chiriqui is part of Las Paridas archipelago that includes several islands and islets, as well as impressive coral reefs for activities such as snorkeling and sport fishing. It has several beaches, including Playa Blanca, where Isla Parida Bar & Grill is located, which receives Visitors every day from all over the world. If what you are looking for is adventure at sea, from Isla Parida you can set sail and enjoy excellent sport fishing, as well as whale watching between the months of July and October when these ocean giants visit the coasts of Panama.

You can also visit the white sand beaches of other islands such as Isla Bolaños, Gamez and Islas Secas, always having the opportunity to have a walk or snorkel in the surroundings. However, within Isla Parida there are also special “tours” for observing howler monkeys on natural trails full of fauna and flora.

From Boca Chica to Isla Parida

Boca Chica is a tourist town located on the mainland of Chiriqui Province, located between 40 to 60 minutes by road from David City. Most of the tours depart from this dock of this picturesque town to different areas in the Gulf of Chiriqui. Although there are other sites from where you can leave to get to Isla Parida, Boca Chica is the most recommended for distance and safety, either to enjoy several days of relaxation in the cabins they offer or in the resort for lovers of sport fishing. Likewise, if the Visitor does not have much time, you can enjoy a day tour on the Island with transportation, food and tours included.
