Home Flavors Restaurants Reinvention During Quarantine

Restaurants Reinvention During Quarantine

Union is strength, especially when a global pandemic affects the daily life of the entire society. One of the most necessary economic activities and also most like by people such as going out to eat at a restaurant disappeared from one moment to the other in the face of today’s daily reality. For this reason, restaurants have found it necessary to refocus their objectives, but maintaining the same mission: to feed people. Now, the goal is more humane and altruistic, where restaurant owners focus on meeting basic needs due to lack of mobility, which has motivated the creation of different projects.

Kitchen with Social Flavor
One of the projects where a large number of restaurants are involved is “Food for Our Heroes”, which aims to deliver free food to hospitals, institutions and companies that support the work of containing the virus in the country. This idea that arose in Spain has been replicated in our country where today more than 300 companies and restaurants support everything that is required for food to reach those who work for the health of the country.
Another project created by the Restaurants, Bars and Discotheques Association is the “Solidarity Kitchens”, which takes ready-to-eat plates to popular sectors, as additional support to the solidarity bags that the government is delivering. Currently there are about 10 kitchens receiving supplies and cooking so that the most vulnerable people can be fed during the quarantine.

Packaged Products for Home Cooking
There are restaurants that are dedicating themselves to packing food products for Home Cooking. Quarantine has forced people to sit still and have more time to cook and share with the family. Restaurants like El Trapiche pack empanadas, tortillas, almojabanos, carimañolas, puff pastry and chorizo croquettes produced with the same high-quality ingredients that their chefs use. These products are brought to every home that requests them, a way to stay close to Panamanian families and clients.

Delivery, to the Rescue of Restaurants
Another innovation has been the strengthening of home service through the various companies that offer it. As restaurants cannot accommodate customers in their venues, the digital promotion of their menus, orders either online, via WhatsApp or other mobile applications are allowing people to continue having access to the delicacies they liked so much before quarantine.
If there’s one thing for sure, it’s that after the pandemic, restaurants will come out with a more diversified and effective industry when it comes to reaching out to diners with their culinary delights.
