Ubicado en la entrada del Pacífico del Canal de Panamá, el nuevo centro de convenciones se encuentra a 35 minutos del Aeropuerto de Tocumen, hoteles, distrito bancario, importantes centros comerciales y otras atracciones.
Este gigante se apoya en la infraestructura hotelera de la Ciudad de Panamá con capacidad suficiente para hospedar cómodamente a los miles de asistentes que lleguen para los grandes eventos. Igualmente está a sólo metros de distancia del Biomuseo, icono arquitectónico del afamado arquitecto Frank Gehry, lugar que cuenta la historia del surgimiento del istmo panameño hace millones de años y cómo este suceso cambió al mundo.

Una Estructura de Grandes Proporciones
La forma externa del edificio presenta curvas suaves y se hace estrecho en el centro, emulando la figura del istmo de Panamá; la cubierta se levanta en la zona más estrecha evocando un puente lo que simboliza la posición geográfica en una composición monolítica donde todo se encuentra en una sola estructura.
El imponente edificio, ubicado estratégicamente en la ribera del Canal, en la Calzada de Amador, resalta por su diseño moderno y está equipada con la más alta tecnología de punta.
El edificio cuenta con un espacio central común de 12,000 m2 que cuenta con dos entradas principales: una orientada hacia el Canal y otra hacia la ciudad.
Desde esta zona central se distribuye hacia los demás recintos que son los siguientes: zona de banquetes de más de 4,000 m2, salón de exhibiciones con más de 15,000 m2 y los grupos de salones de reuniones acomodados alrededor del gran vestíbulo. Cuenta con un aforo a máxima capacidad de 23,906 personas.
También cuenta con 1,715 estacionamientos y un edificio técnico para la producción de frío y energía de emergencia. En su totalidad el edificio principal cuenta con 62 mil m2 de construcción y con más de 33 mil m2 de áreas alquilables.
Múltiples Eventos para el 2022
El Panama Convention Center inauguró su primera temporada de Eventos el pasado mes de octubre de 2021 con la VXII Conferencia de Caribean Cruise Association que fue todo un éxito. Sin embargo, en este 2022 se tienen planificados muchos eventos que se realizarán tales como Expo Máquina, Expocomer, Expo Turismo, Latin Tyres Expo, la primera reunión del New Economy de Bloomberg fuera de Asia, así como FIEXPO Latinoamérica, la feria más relevante de la Industria de reuniones en la región con asistentes provenientes de Estados Unidos, Canadá, América Latina y Europa.
En los próximos años se empezarán a ver los frutos de este gigante del turismo con la visita de miles de turistas que gracias a los grandes eventos conocerán las bondades y bellezas que ofrece Panamá al mundo.
