The Pacific Riviera, a Destination Many Expats Choose for Living Near the Beach

Many expats who come to Panama choose the Pacific coast of Panama as their home, seeking a relaxed lifestyle accompanied by natural diversity.

This sector of Panama, called the Pacific Rivera at only one hour and a half from Panama City is home to some of the most beautiful and affordable coastal towns in the country: Coronado, Gorgona and San Carlos. However, the best thing about exploring Panama is that the country has places that offer a lifestyle tailored to every budget.

Coronado: A Community with All the Amenities of Modern Life

Beautiful beaches, a luxurious lifestyle, and a welcoming expat community make Coronado an excellent choice for living.

This place offers a welcoming atmosphere with a well develop infrastructure, high-end residences and condominiums. Those who live here have access to large supermarkets, movie theaters, restaurants, and plenty of entertainment. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy many of the community’s golf courses, beach clubs, and water activities. There is easy access to healthcare facilities, including a full-service hospital serving general and specialized medical needs, such as the San Fernando Clinic and other clinics in the surrounding area. And if you have pets, the area has a large number of veterinary clinics that attend cats and dogs.

The cost of living in Coronado combines luxury and affordability. Between renting a condominium or residence, utilities, and normal expenses for a comfortable lifestyle, you can live very well on a budget of $3,025.00 a month for a couple.

Nueva Gorgona, a Quiet Beach Town Within Reach of Everyone

This location, right next to Coronado, is ideal for finding comfortable and affordable housing, either beachfront or very close to it. Many condos with ocean views are available here. Additionally, buying or renting in Gorgona costs approximately 20% less than in Coronado.

Gorgona has a population of approximately 5,000, primarily Panamanians, who are very friendly. However, there is also an expat community in this coastal town. The relaxed lifestyle here attracts foreigners of all kinds: retirees, families, and singles.

The monthly cost of living here can range from $900.00 to $2,900.00, which includes housing, food, transportation, healthcare, and entertainment.

San Carlos, a Town Where Residents Relax and Enjoy Life

San Carlos is another option on the Pacific coast, offering its residents a relaxed atmosphere with beautiful surroundings. This town offers two options: living in the old town, primarily with single-family homes, or living in the area where modern high-rise condominiums have been built.

San Carlos is a small town similar in size to Gorgona. The weather is pleasantly warm, and annual rainfall is minimal, which is surprising considering the green surrounding mountains. Here you’ll find friendly people, both locals and foreigners.

Although the town is small, basic services and needs are met. Food and agricultural products are available at more affordable prices. It also has a public hospital. If you need a large supermarket with products similar to those in the United States, Coronado is just a few minutes away.

In San Carlos, you can rent a beautiful home for $700.00-$900.00 a month. A luxury beachfront condominium complex costs between $1,200.00 and $1,800.00 a month. A mid-range monthly budget for a couple with all the amenities is $1,600.00 a month.

Many expats choose these coastal towns as their home. The relaxed lifestyle and natural diversity of the area make it an attractive option.
