San Jose de Las Tablas Drum and Pollera Festival will take place from November 28 to December 1 

Like every year, at the end of November San Jose de Las Tablas is decorated to host a festival that celebrates the founding of this historic town of Los Santos, which turns 115 years. 

The San Jose Drum and Pollera Festival in Las Tablas will be held from November 28 to December 1. Local folklore will be highlighted with drum competitions, pollera parades and traditional artistic performances. An event that highlights the drum as a typical instrument and the pollera as national costume, with the participation of folkloric delegations and musical competitions.

Musical and Traditional Contests

Within this long-awaited festival, several musical and cultural competitions are held, including the Don Abraham Vergara Violin Competition, Alejandro Cedeño Drumming, Don Hernan Vergara Accordion Competition and the Doña Lastenia Vergara Tunas Competition. And on Sunday, December 1st from 2 p.m. the famous skirt parade will be held with the awards for the most beautiful ones.

Festival in Honor of the Pollera

This celebration honors what is considered the most beautiful traditiinal costume in the world, made in an artisanal way and with great skill by artisan women and men whose work support the final production of the costumes, all are born or live in this town. This protagonism is experienced throughout activities and the great parade where women proudly display their typical costume along with the queen of the festival, who this year is Her Majesty Miss Noris Elena Medina Pinto.

The Drum, Musical Instrument of the Region

During this festival, a tribute is also paid to the drum, since this typical Panamanian musical instrument is made in this town. Generations of families have dedicated to the making of the drum, always sharing the knowledge and enthusiasm for their traditions with young people.
