La Pollera Veraguense Folkloric Festival, an Event that Promotes the Traditions of Sona

This traditional festival will take place from November 1 to 5, 2024 in the town of Sona, Veraguas province and is organized with the objective of highlighting the culture of Veraguas.

This festival includes a series of folkloric activities organized by the people of Sona and begins on Friday, November 1 with the Veraguenses costumes contest at 4:00 p.m. where adults and children participate.

Tuna del Mazo with Candle and Coronation

One of the activities that people who attend this festival like the most is the traditional Tuna del Mazo with Candles that will take place at 12 midnight on November 3 where the locals come out in the early morning to enjoy the rythm of drums as they parade through the main streets of Sona.

This day the queen of the festival Doraima Del Carmen Rodriguez Carranza will be crowned, and will be accompanied by her family and the delegation that is in charge of organizing this event.

Contest and Presentations

On Monday, November 4, the typical portal contest (traditional house portal contest) will also be held accompanied by other activities among these folkloric presentations at night.

Grand Closing of the Festival

The celebration of this festival will close on Friday, November 5, with la Pollera Veraguense Folkloric parade and the cart parade accompanied by the grand awards ceremony to close the festival.

The town of Sona invites all local and foreign tourists to discover Panamanian customs and traditions.
