From the extreme north with the driest desert in the world, to the southern south with eternal ice and inverted waterfalls, Chile is an invitation that is difficult to refuse. Each Visitor is amazed by the experiences offered by this destination located at the southern end of the world.
Santiago de Chile
Santiago, the prosperous capital of Chile, unites the best of modern urban living with a privileged geographical position between the Andes mountains range and the Pacific Ocean. Mixed in the melting pot of colonial architecture and Latin style, Santiago’s most notable enclaves such as Bellavista, full of street art and elegant bars, Cerro San Cristóbal, Plaza de Armas and Mercado Central top the list for most of travelers and are easy to mark. No visit to Santiago is complete without a walk through the Maipo Valley, or El Cajon del Maipo, a beautiful natural area for camping or hiking and a wide variety of sports. Just as impressive as the gorge is its collection of famous wineries: the vineyards and wineries of Bodegas Concha y Toro, Bodegas Santa Rita and Bodegas Undurraga offer tasting tours.
Viña del Mar and Valparaíso
It is the ideal place to escape the crowds in Santiago and enjoy a day swimming at the beach or admiring the architecture and the city’s abundant parks. Another big draw is the city’s old mansions and fresh local seafood.
Day trips from Santiago typically combine a few hours in Viña del Mar with a visit to the nearby port city of Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its funiculars, street art, and brightly colored houses.
Osorno Volcano
This destination has a path that leads to the Ski and Mountain Center complex, where chairlifts transport Visitors to a point near the top of the volcano. A worthwhile tour, even if you don’t want to ski. The lift is open year-round, and hiking the volcano are popular summer activities, often combined with a visit to Petrohue Falls and rafting on Lake Llanquihue.
Patagonia
Chilean Patagonia is the region that extends from Puerto Montt to Cape Horn, and therefore covers (from north to south) part of the Lakes Region, the entire Aysen Region and part of the Magallanes Region. Patagonia is one of the most remote and exciting places on the planet and by combining Chilean and Argentinean regions you can get the most out of it. In the South of the continent, you will be able to admire the most spectacular landscapes in the area and you will be surrounded by lakes, mountains, plains, hills and glaciers.
