Turquoise Waters

Its deep turquoise waters surrounded by a rocky wall make this paradise a natural pool like few others in the country. However, to get there, it is up to the Visitor to make an extra effort, since they must walk around an hour and a half (depending on the condition of the person) between green pastures, rocky and steep hills. In this sector the breeze runs strong, helping the sun not to feel so hot as the day progresses.

Although the best season to visit La Silampa is the dry season, which is when the blue and turquoise tones are purer, it is a place worth going at all times, as long as the day is not extremely rainy.

The most daring adventurers can dive into this large “swimming pool”. And for those who do not like risk, at the bottom of the stream there are ideal wells to relax and create refreshing memories.

The owners of the farm where the stream is located have it conditioned with small ranches for Visitors to camp until the next day.

The Legend of the Silampa

La Silampa, is the name that the locals baptized this place, since according to legend, years ago in this place a creature would come out at night with the appearance of a woman with a white tunic that flew over the roads and uninhabited fields.

Today the story is different, since instead of a mysterious woman visiting the area, there are now hundreds of people, both nationals and foreigners who camp in the surrounding plains to appreciate this spectacle of nature. Of course, there are always the curious looking to meet the paranormal creature.

It is important for the visitor to coordinate the trip with a tour guide, and to be in good physical condition, since the stretch is a bit rough due to the great vegetation and the steep hills.

A Nature Tour

Along the route to Silampa, the visitor is accompanied by a fresh breeze, that is, since it begins to pass through rocky ravines, cattle chewing the cud on the green grass and people harvesting fruits and vegetables on their farms.

An enchanting place along the way is the Las Mesitas waterfall, ideal for taking photos. This name was coined because of the various streams in the shape of a table, it also has cave-like entrances in which everyone who passes by can take the best “selfie”. Next, there is the El Duende stream, perfect for taking a dip in its waters that are also full of legends.

Following the steep and rocky path, you can admire the green vegetation and listen to the birds singing while taking the time to take some photos of the beautiful panoramic views from the top.
