Panama and Three Other Countries will Receive $150 Million to Strengthen the Marine Corridor

Thirteen international, public and private organizations dedicated and committed to the protection of the seas and the environment, offered technical and financial assistance for a total of B/.150 million to support Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Panama in strengthening the Corridor. The announcement was made in Lisbon (Portugal) where the United Nations Ocean Conference is being held for the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal No. 14: Life Underwater.

The supporting coalition that has been named “Connect to Protect the Eastern Tropical Pacific” will seek to work together with elected leaders, communities, indigenous groups, government officials and scientists to strengthen cooperative governance, the design and implementation of marine protected areas and a marine reserve biosphere and secure long-term sustainable financing.
