Boquete, a Tourist Destination in Chiriqui Where You Can Live the Magic of Christmas

The large influx of local and international tourists who visit Boquete in search of a cool mountain weather, exuberant nature, first-class gastronomy and outdoor activities has helped position this region of Chiriqui in recent years as a Christmas tourist destination.

The Magic of Christmas on Every Corner

The District of Boquete during December is decorated in red, green and lights of all colors to celebrate Christmas and the arrival of the New Year. People who walk the streets and shops of this enchanting town are surrounded by a Christmas atmosphere that is more similar to that of countries in the northern hemisphere. The cool mountain climate makes the experience even more different than in other parts of the country and is the best excuse to try the coffee from this region, one of the best in the world.

Christmas Flavors in Gastronomy

Christmas in Boquete is seen on every corner, however it can also be felt in each restaurant with the aromas of Christmas recipes created by renowned international Chefs who have made this town their home. The streets are also filled with food, sweets and souvenir vendors, especially when musical “shows” or Christmas activities are held in the town’s central park.

Activities for the Whole Family

The lights and decorations that can be enjoyed in Boquete are accompanied by a long list of Christmas activities that have been taking place every year. This season begins with the Christmas Craft Fair on December 10 where entrepreneurs sell decorations for this season, as well as delicious foods. Another event that is highly anticipated is the lighting of the tree and the lighting in the central park on December 12, as well as the Christmas Bazaar that will take place from the 11th to the 22nd of the same month. However, the largest and most popular event is the great Christmas parade, which will take place on Sunday, December 17.

During this activity, musical bands from all over the country and floats full of lights will parade. This year the parade introduces the concept of Eco Christmas where all the decorations will be made from plastic. The Christmas season closes on January 5 on Three Kings’ Day, where the Boquete Mayor’s Office delivers gifts to many children in the region. To find more events go to Instagram: @alcaldia_boquete.
