Anton Valley, a Natural Destination with Great Attractions and Close to Panama City

El Valle de Anton is a very beautiful town just 2 and a half hours from Panama City. Located in Cocle province, along the crater of an inactive volcano, this natural destination has trails, waterfalls and a unique cultural offering in its surroundings. What is certain for every Visitor is that upon arrival there is a large number of activities to do and places to discover.

Trails Around a Volcano Crater

One of the best ways to start getting to know Anton Valley is along the Caldera Route, four trails on the edge of the crater that surrounds the town: Cara Iguana, La India Dormida, La Silla or El Gaital. The latter offers the experience of the Panamanian rainforest, where at the end of the road there is a viewpoint from where you can see the entire town.

Thermal Wells, a Phenomenon of Nature

The thermal wells in El Valle de Anton are an unmissable activity for local and foreign visitors. Located on the slopes of Cerro Cara Iguana, these pools with mineral water have a pleasant temperature and where the natural mud from the wells can be placed all over the body to exfoliate it.

The Crafts Market, a Cultural Experience

Another way to start getting to know this mountain town is by visiting the vibrant Crafts Market. Here it is possible to find a variety of handmade products, from textiles to jewelry, to traditional crafts from the region.

Chorro Las Mozas, a Natural Site to Explore

On the way up to Cerro La Cruz you will find Chorro Las Mozas, a series of impressive waterfalls that form pools where it is possible to bathe and are surrounded by nature. Many people explore the first one or go to the second waterfall, however, it is worth doing the complete tour to see them all and be dazzled by the fauna and flora that is found.

Tour the Valley On a Bike and Get to know the Painted Stone

Touring the town and its surroundings on a bicycle is an experience that can be easily enjoyed by renting an electric one in the center of town. This is the perfect opportunity to visit la Piedra Pintada (Painted Stone), a huge pre-Columbian petroglyph with a still mysterious meaning, located on the way to climb La India Dormida, the most iconic mountain in El Valle.

Adventure at Chorro Macho Zipline

To enjoy this experience, take a 20-minute walk through a forest full of birds, where you reach the first of four platforms. In each one, a guide teaches the safety techniques for jumping down the zip line. On the air you pass between the trees of the cloud forest and over the ravine, where it is possible to enjoy a spectacular view of the waterfall.

All this and much more can be enjoyed in this town that also has a good amount of hotels to stay, from luxurious ones to more modest hostels, as well as a varied gastronomic proposal that meets all tastes and demands.
