Cruise Season in Panama 2024-2025, Tourist Activity That will Continue to Grow

Cruise ship tourism in Panama has become one of the sectors that most energizes tourist activity in the cities of Panama and Colon. Only in the 2023 – 2024 season, the country welcomed more than 60 cruise ships and 100,000 passengers, including those who arrive through the Homeport (Base Port) and those who arrive as a stopover destination and get off for a few hours to get to know a little about the cultural proposal of the country.

More than 469,000 Passengers are Expected

For the new season that is about to begin, according to preliminary data, 246 cruise reservations have been confirmed, of which 76 correspond to Homeport (Base Port) operations and 170 to Port of Call (Port of Call). It is estimated that these operations will bring on board approximately 324,000 passengers at port of call (stopover) and 145,600 at Homeport.
These results and projections have been achieved thanks to a public-private alliance that demonstrates the willingness of all actors to strengthen Panama’s position in the maritime, port and logistics sector worldwide.

Great Number of Cruise Lines Will Arrive in Panama
Among the main cruise lines that will arrive in Panama are: Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, MSC Cruise, Phoenix Reisen, Princess Cruise, Carnival Cruises, Hurtigruten, Iles Du Ponant, Blount Small Ship Adventure, Peace Boat, Swan Hellenic, Viking Ocean Cruise, Residensea, Scenic Luxury, Holland America Line, Windstar Cruises, Oceania Cruises, Regent Seven Seas, Silver Seas and Seabourn.

Inspection at the Amador Cruise Terminal
To ensure that the movement and service for cruise ships are at their optimal level, a detailed inspection was carried out a couple of weeks ago at the Amador Cruise Terminal in Perico Island. This preventive measure was intended to ensure that the facilities are prepared for the expected increase in cruise ship arrivals, thus guaranteeing the safety and efficiency of operations.

Considered one of the most advanced terminals in Central America and the only one on the Pacific coast of Panama, the Amador Cruise Terminal extends over an area of 88 hectares and can simultaneously receive up to two ships of 360 meters in length, with the capacity to transport 5,000 passengers each.
