The People…the Most Valuable and Authentic Heritage that Our Country has

It is said that Pedasí has everything a tourist is looking for: beaches, “surf” islands, folklore, traditions and culture, mangroves, turtles, fishing, whales, countryside, typical foods and much more… and it is true. However, who opens the door to all these wonders are the Pedasieños, honest and cheerful people who make each Visitor feel at home.

In honor of the people of Pedasí who receive us with such affection every time we visit their beautiful town, our new edition takes a tour of several of its most beautiful and attractive corners. Describing what is interesting to do and experience, from its beautiful beaches, as well as its deep-rooted customs and traditions.

This edition has to start with the person who gave vital support to the development of this town as a tourist destination of national importance… Doña Mireya Moscoso, our special guest. One of the most important personalities in Panamanian history, born in the District of Pedasí, and former President of the Republic in the period 1999-2004, was the protagonist of the projects that provided Pedasí with the infrastructure that the District required for its development. social and future positioning as a destination of national tourist importance. Exclusively, he speaks to us spontaneously and sincerely about his native land, his childhood and the contribution of his family.

In Special Report, we have Miguel Batista, Mayor of Pedasí, who tells us about current tourism in the District and its ongoing projects. He also tells us about the community mentality in Pedasí, and how it has helped the growth and quality of life of this beautiful town.

In History and Culture we talk about the charm and spirit of development of this town embodied in the Moscoso House Museum, the first historical and tourist promotion museum in the District. A special place for our special guest and for all Pedasieños.

Just as the smiles of the people in Pedasí abound, there are also natural wonders throughout the District. For this reason, in this edition we show Isla Iguana, the small Galapagos of Panama for its great diversity of fauna, crystalline waters, coral reefs and the visit of the always-awaited humpback whales every year. We also show one of the most important “Surf” destinations at a regional level such as Playa Venao. A place full of fun and many activities apart from the practice of the sport of “surf”. With a gastronomic offer and fun nightlife make this beach and its surroundings an unmissable place to visit.

Our Flavors section features a famous Spanish Chef who wholeheartedly chose Pedasí as his home. Chef Manolo Caracol, who was the owner of the most famous restaurant in the country, today with a more relaxed life, tells us about Panamanian gastronomy, its evolution and what we really have to take care of: our people and living nature.

Just as a great Chef like Manolo came to Pedasí for his life and potential, a large number of Chefs have also been arriving, opening restaurants with varied and delicious gastronomic proposals. Good examples are the cases of El Gato Gastronómico by Chef Luis Carlos (Pizzas and Italian food), Bistrot Pedasí by Chef Jean Bouvier (French food), Terry Desti Beach, Restaurant & Bar by Chef Terry Sagnes (Fusion food) and the representation of the authentic Pedasieña cuisine such as El Chichemito, with the spouses Decided Cedeño and Rene Gutiérrez. All parts of our Flavors section that arrives more delicious than ever.

In Pedasí there is nothing more relaxing than returning to the hotel where one is staying and being treated with the kindness and affection that characterize the locals. An experience that is lived in El Hostal Doña María (downtown Pedasí) and Pacific Pearl Hotel (Playa Los Destiladeros), places that make you feel at home.

Pedasí, authentic like every person who visits it.
