Three Generations of Hoteliers
The Executive Hotel is a third generation family business, founded in 1951 by Vern Harry Jacobson and his wife Mollie Connor Jacobson when they rented the Managua Gran Hotel at Nicaragua and over the next twenty-five years, they added several more hotels in Central America, the United States and Ecuador.
The Executive Hotel was purchased in 1969 by Mario Cespedes, a contractor who had begun construction on a 96-room hotel, but decided to sell the property to the Jacobson family before completion in the center of the growing financial center.
Opened in 1970, the Executive Hotel was well received by meeting the needs of executive travelers, operating with the highest occupancy rates in the city. In addition to being in the heart of the banking center, the modern rooms were designed to look like a comfortable mini office. The Executive Hotel featured many “firsts” in the Central American hotel industry.
