West Panama province is one of the regions that has begun to promote its tourism potential, with places full of new experiences for both local and foreign tourists.
One of these places is located in La Chorrera District, the capital of this young province, a region that has 18 townships, including Iturralde. Name placed in honor of Mateo Iturralde de la Vega, a distinguished Panamanian who held important positions as a politician, doctor and lawyer.
A Town on the Shores of Gatun Lake
At Mateo Iturralde there is a place called La Arenosa, an area where the majority of the population is concentrated. It has a tourist and natural attraction full of history and activities: Gatun Lake.
In the past this place was the main means of communication with Costa Abajo de Colon and where agricultural production was carried out. Until the main road was built that connects this district with that of Feuillet, where the Inter-American Highway is located 38 kilometers away.

In both places it is possible to enjoy a delicious fried fish with patacones, accompanied by a cold drink, while enjoying the refreshing breeze that caresses the refreshing waters of the lake.

If the Visitor wishes to enjoy this natural paradise for more than one day, it is possible to find agro-tourist farms located on the shore of the lake. In these places you can spend the night in comfortable cabins and even camp in areas assigned for this activity. Likewise, from these places you can take boat rides on Gatun Lake.
