In commemoration of the 174th anniversary of the province of Colón, the Reto por Colón Foundation will host the Sabores de Colón festival on Saturday, February 28th and Sunday, March 1st at the Colón Center for Art and Culture.
This festival of Colón’s gastronomy and culture highlights the province’s Afro-Caribbean heritage and the talent of its entrepreneurs. The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., solidifying this iconic space as the epicenter of local flavor and creativity.

Discover a Wide Selection of the Most Delicious Gastronomy
For two days, the public can enjoy a wide selection of iconic Colon dishes such as coconut rice, fried fish with plantains, pati, plantinta, saos, and other traditional recipes that have made the region’s gastronomy famous. Sabores de Colon has established itself as a platform for entrepreneurs, traditional cooks, young chefs, and others to present their culinary creations, combining inherited recipes with contemporary innovations without losing the essence of Colon’s flavor.

Artistic, Folkloric, and Cultural Shows
In addition to the culinary offerings, Sabores de Colon 2026 will feature artistic, folkloric, and cultural performances, including expressions of Colon’s unique identity such as Congo dances and groups, craft displays, and visual exhibits celebrating the province’s history and pride. The festival will offer a safe and accessible family-friendly environment, with recreational areas for children, spaces for creative ventures, and market areas where local producers can offer sauces, condiments, sweets, and other products derived from Afro-Caribbean cuisine.

Colon: A Local and International Gastronomic Destination
Sabores de Colon was born as a project of Reto por Colon Foundation, with the goal of promoting the economic, tourism, and cultural development of the province, positioning Colon as a top-tier gastronomic destination both nationally and internationally. In previous editions, the festival has brought together hundreds of Colon’s culinary entrepreneurs and artisans and has attracted tens of thousands of visitors, boosting the local economy and strengthening the community’s sense of belonging.

Promoting the Afro-Caribbean Heritage of Colon
“Colon is rich in art, culture, gastronomy, and history, and Sabores de Colon is the platform to showcase it to the country and the world, highlighting the efforts of our people and the value of our Afro-Caribbean heritage,” stated Reto por Colon Foundation. Every dish, every business, and every artistic performance at the festival represents a story of resilience, creativity, and love for Colon.
