Garrido Specialty Coffee Roasters is another extension of the Garrido’s Coffee & Estates family business that is managed by second generation family, focused on the production, processing, roasting and sale of specialty coffees both locally and internationally.
Family members and specialized collaborators carefully supervise all aspects of the administration, farm, varietals and processes. They have developed a teamwork strategy with the sole purpose of providing each customer with a product full of love and care.

The Garrido family sales coffee from their own production, roasting, grinding, profiling and sampling from its complete laboratory, to those companies related to the world of coffee that do not have the necessary infrastructure to start. It also offers consulting services to other companies or farms in the industry.
With more than 50 years of experience, their know how is broad enough to offer consulting services, which are provided by highly trained personnel.
Mama Cata Estate, one of the Oldest Estates
It is part of the Garrido family farms, and is located in Boquete, in the Alto Quiel micro-region with an altitude that ranges between 1,500 and 1,750 meters above sea level. Among its crops you can find caturras, catuais, typicas, geishas and more. The distinctive general tasting notes of the terroir include chocolates and citrus fruits with a floral, herbal, fruity and cream character enriched with a juicy, sweet and silky taste and aftertaste.

The Mokkita Reaches First Place in “Best of Panama”
The Garrido family began to populate the farm with this variety and today, it is in full production, the Mokka is the variety that promises to be the new cup that will conquer new palates in the speciality world of coffee, having an excellent quality, a tree of high production and disease resistant.
The Mama Cata Mokkita Process batch, was the winner of the first place of the traditional natural coffees and with processes, in the XXIV International Virtual Tasting “Best of Panama”, the great surprise that the producers took to the international competition.
Mokka is a cocktail of tropical fruit flavors along with an impressive range of scents, mixed in a cup, it is the new variety of coffee that Panama brings to the international market.
A coffee that generated controversy among national and international judges due to its outstanding characteristics unlike the other traditional ones, since it has elements similar to Pacamara and Geisha.

The Mokkita is a new variety that was introduced to the competition in 2020. A coffee flavored with many white, red, purple fruits, nuts, with herbaled flavors. It had been generating many positive comments, during the BOP 2020 when achieved up to 93 points, based on 100 points, by an international judge and 91 final points with which it crowned the category. It was previously discovered in private cupping in the year 2008, upon confirming its phenotype and genotype on a field visit to the Mama Cata farm by the experienced Japanese taster Mamoru Taguchi from Bach Coffee, with more than 65 years of experience, at the time he was president of the Japan Specialty Coffee Association and coffee advisor to the Emperor of that country.
Mamoru, when tasting it, was stunned by the taste, and impressed, he asks to see the beans since it was the same one that left him a similar sensation in the 1950s, when he taste it in an African coffee station.
Other Farms and Work Process
The Garrido family also has coffee available from different farms, mainly from the Finca Volcancito- Volcancito microregion, Boquete, Finca Margarita- Alto Lino microregion, Boquete and Finca El Palomar- La Catera microregion, Boquete.

All are family-owned coffee states. The coffee mix of these farms are caturras, catuais, typicas, geishas and more. The altitudes range between 1200 and 1475 meters above sea level. The coffee from these farms is mostly heavy, round, sweet and well balanced with hints of fruit and citrus and a creamy mouthfeel.
Garrido’s Coffee & Estates coffees are handpicked, applying a wet process to wash them completely. Natural products and other processes are also available.
The coffee drying process is carried out on African beds at the Garrido Coffee Highland manufacturing plant and in the patio of the Mama Cata Farm. The coffee mix from the farms is partially dried in the sun and in a mechanical drum. The whole process always following an intensive quality control.
