In the San Carlos District there is an\nimpressive place, full of nature, mysteries and great potential to attract\nVisitors from all over the world who wish to have an eco-tourism and\nsustainable experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This natural Eden is located an hour and a half from\nPanama City, the Laguna (lagoon) de San Carlos is a tourist destination full of\npeace and relaxation where you can have adventures while camping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thevisitorpanama.info\/esp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/IMG_8950_opt.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8255\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Unique Nature in Panama<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lagoon is located 900 meters above sea level,\nbetween jungle and mystery, with a total area of \u200b\u200b2 hectares. This lake is fed\nmainly by underground water sources and some water jets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The beauty of the landscape, the delicious and fresh\nbreeze, the great number of trees and the warm waters of the lagoon (which\nremain warm even at nightfall) make up the ideal place to spend a weekend of\nrest in contact with nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Magical Legends<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like many places surrounded by jungle and exotic\nlandscapes, the lagoon has several magical legends that envelops people visiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to historical accounts, it was the sacred\nplace of the indigenous gods that inhabited its surroundings. On the shores of\nthe lagoon, sacrifices were offered to make amends, but without crossing its banks\nsince anyone who desecrated its waters ran the risk of becoming a frog or any\nkind of creeping animal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another legend tells that more than 30 years ago, some\nforeigners came to the lagoon to investigate its depth, its flora and fauna,\nbut to their surprise, upon entering the lagoon the diver found a cave from\nwhich he took a plate and a glass of gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thevisitorpanama.info\/esp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/IMG_8948_opt-1024x575.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8256\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mysteries That Attract Tourism<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the attractions of the lagoon is that it has\nbeen under permanent study by scientists from Europe, the United States and\nCanada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Divers from the Smithsonian Tropical Research\nInstitute have explored the lagoon up to 18 meters deep, but have not been able\nto reach the bottom. Researchers have discovered that the lagoon presents a\nslight increase of 8 inches in the water level and attribute this phenomenon to\nhigh tides from the Pacific Ocean, located more than 60 kilometers away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other scientists from the University of Bogota have\nvisited the lagoon to carry out experiments and determine its origin, however,\nso far no decisive conclusion has been reached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>French scientists took water samples from 14 meters\ndeep and discovered that the lagoon has three gentle currents that circle the\nmore than five hectares of the lagoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thevisitorpanama.info\/esp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/IMG_8951_opt-1-1024x575.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8257\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Activities to Enjoy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The waters of the lake are ideal for relaxing by boat\nor kayaking, you can also enjoy fishing. However, many choose to hike to Cerro\nPicacho. From up there all Visitors can appreciate, apart from the majesty of La Laguna,\nimpressive views of nature, as well as the towns of Sora, San Carlos, Chame, Coronado, Nueva\nGorgona and the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thevisitorpanama.info\/esp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/IMG_8955_opt.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8258\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides\nfrom being able to camp around the lake, it is also allowed to make bonfires,\nbut only in authorized areas. At tourist service points they provide this\ninformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The entrance has a $1.00 fee per person and $5.00 if\nyou take a tent to camp and $3.00 for using the parking lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Close to Panama City, is the Laguna de San Carlos, a place that has everything that a visitor with an adventurous heart wants to experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thevisitorpanama.info\/esp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/IMG_8953_opt.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8259\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The West Panama Province is full of beautiful places, whether with family, partner or friends.
