It also offers\nconsulting services to other companies or farms in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With more than 50\nyears of experience, their know how is broad enough to offer consulting\nservices, which are provided by highly trained personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mama Cata Estate, one of the Oldest Estates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is part of the Garrido family farms, and is located\nin Boquete, in the Alto Quiel micro-region with an altitude that ranges between\n1,500 and 1,750 meters above sea level. Among its crops you can find caturras,\ncatuais, typicas, geishas and more. The distinctive general tasting notes of\nthe terroir include chocolates and citrus fruits with a floral, herbal, fruity\nand cream character enriched with a juicy, sweet and silky taste and\naftertaste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thevisitorpanama.info\/esp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG-20210526-WA0024_opt.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8457\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Mokkita Reaches First Place in &#8220;Best of\nPanama&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Garrido family began to populate the farm with\nthis variety and today, it is in full production, the Mokka is the variety that\npromises to be the new cup that will conquer new palates in the speciality\nworld of coffee, having an excellent quality, a tree of high production and\ndisease resistant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mama Cata Mokkita Process batch, was the winner of\nthe first place of the traditional natural coffees and with processes, in the\nXXIV International Virtual Tasting \u201cBest of Panama\u201d, the great surprise that\nthe producers took to the international competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mokka is a cocktail of tropical fruit flavors along\nwith an impressive range of scents, mixed in a cup, it is the new variety of\ncoffee that Panama brings to the international market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A coffee that generated controversy among national and\ninternational judges due to its outstanding characteristics unlike the other\ntraditional ones, since it has elements similar to Pacamara and Geisha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thevisitorpanama.info\/esp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/eaeb5473-b6d0-4a43-8fd_opt-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8458\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mokkita is a new variety that was introduced to\nthe competition in 2020. A coffee flavored with many white, red, purple fruits,\nnuts, with herbaled flavors. It had been generating many positive comments,\nduring the BOP 2020 when achieved up to 93 points, based on 100 points, by an\ninternational judge and 91 final points with which it crowned the category. It\nwas previously discovered in private cupping in the year 2008, upon confirming its\nphenotype and genotype on a field visit to the Mama Cata farm by the\nexperienced Japanese taster Mamoru Taguchi from Bach Coffee, with more than 65\nyears of experience, at the time he was president of the Japan Specialty Coffee\nAssociation and coffee advisor to the Emperor of that country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mamoru, when tasting it, was stunned by the taste, and\nimpressed, he asks to see the beans since it was the same one that left him a\nsimilar sensation in the 1950s, when he taste it in an African coffee station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other Farms and Work Process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Garrido family also has coffee available from\ndifferent farms, mainly from the Finca Volcancito- Volcancito microregion,\nBoquete, Finca Margarita- Alto Lino microregion, Boquete and Finca El Palomar-\nLa Catera microregion, Boquete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thevisitorpanama.info\/esp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSC7629_opt.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8459\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>All are family-owned coffee states. The coffee mix of\nthese farms are caturras, catuais, typicas, geishas and more. The altitudes\nrange between 1200 and 1475 meters above sea level. The coffee from these farms\nis mostly heavy, round, sweet and well balanced with hints of fruit and citrus\nand a creamy mouthfeel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Garrido&#8217;s Coffee &amp; Estates coffees are handpicked,\napplying a wet process to wash them completely. Natural products and other\nprocesses are also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The coffee drying process is carried out on African\nbeds at the Garrido Coffee Highland manufacturing plant and in the patio of the\nMama Cata Farm. The coffee mix from the farms is partially dried in the sun and\nin a mechanical drum.
