The Reina Torres de Ara\u00faz Museum, located on Plaza 5\nde Mayo premises and which was originally the Panama City railway station, is\nin the process of being restored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Currently, a work that is currently being carried out\nby the CEN Consortium. Marta Museum restoration is in progress for an amount of\n$ 14.7 million, financed with funds from the Inter-American Development Bank\n(IDB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This Museum has been closed to the public for more\nthan two decades, and a whole generation that has not been able to fully\nappreciate the cultural heritage that its own country offers. For this reason,\nthe renovation that is being carried out has the objective of returning to all\nPanamanians the pride of their national heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Museum with All that is Needed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The conservation and restoration actions of this\nmuseum include four permanent exhibition rooms and two temporary exhibition\nrooms, auditoriums, two cafeterias, “souvenir” shops, elevators that\ncomply with universal accessibility, urbanization of the environment, a special\nshelter building to keep the preserved pieces and the new museography that is\nthe last part of this renovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The special shelter building will be underground and\nwill house some 15,000 arqueological pieces, the most important collection in\nthe entire country. The goal is to preserve, receive and maintain each of the\nvaluable pieces so that they do not wear out over time, as well as to continue\nwith research and the restoration of pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The museum will have a room dedicated to Dr. Reina\nTorres de Arauz, where documents and personal items will be exhibited enhancing\nher professional and personal life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The idea of \u200b\u200bthis project is to integrate the museum\nwith the craft market to create an attractive environment and a tour for tourist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The civil work is projected to finish in the last\nquarter of 2022.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Reina Torres de Ara\u00faz Museum, located on Plaza 5 de Mayo premises and which was originally the Panama City railway station, is in the process of being restored.
