In 1976, her\nfather invited her to join the workforce at Clinica Hospital San Fernando. More\nthan 40 years later, Elisa de Lewis is the General Manager and Executive Vice\nPresident of this renowned hospital, always focused on getting to know each of\nthe collaborators in depth and maintaining a close relationship with the\ndoctors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is an innate\nleader, with a human sensitivity that strengthens her commitment to patients\nand the institution. With studies in Management at Marymount College and Loyola\nUniversity, Elisa de Lewis, has learned that the most valuable thing is\nlistening to include people in solutions. This is the reason why our special\nguest is one of the people who leads vaccination in private hospitals today, as\nalways, seeking the common good of all, strength that  can contribute to the tourism industry and the\ncountry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How important\nis it that private hospitals have joined the vaccination process to achieve\nherd immunity across the country?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cFor the general population it is very important\nto have greater accessibility to different vaccination centers, since for many\nthe distance can be one of the mayor factors that prevents them from going.\nWith this support we expand the options, and provide a greater capacity for\ncare, in order to increase the number of people vaccinated\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Health vs\neconomy, how can both work in harmony to move the country forward, and\ntherefore the tourism industry? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn order for the\ntourism industry to grow today, it is of utmost importance to increase the\nnumber of vaccinated people and in this way to be able in a certain way, to\nmainly promote safer environments, and to continue modifying the restrictions,\nin order to promote the growth of the economy. I believe that the strategy of\nconducting vaccination sweeps should be continued in the most popular areas and\nthat both tourists and our population feel more protected\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Health must be\nmanaged well, how would you manage tourism to ensure the good health of the\nindustry and ensuring safe and pleasant experiences in our country?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The priority\nat this time should be to keep the population healthy, opening tourism\nopportunities, maintaining or offering vaccination to tourists as long as our\npopulation is vaccinated.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the healthcare\nindustry, human care is vital to the recovery of a patient. What suggestions\nwould you make to the tourism industry to improve service?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGood service is\nessential in any sector. In the tourism sector today, in addition to providing\na good service, nowadays adequate protection must be guaranteed. An alternative\ncould be offering the possibility of vaccinating tourists, without neglecting\nthe local population\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Health tourism\ncontinues to be a segment of tourism with enormous potential. How important is\nthis segment for you and what are the projects that are contemplated for the\nfuture in the medium and long term?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Health\ntourism in our country still has many questions and undefined aspects. One of\nthem is that most of the potential patients who seek health services are those\nwhose insurers do not cover the procedures and that is why they seek cheaper\noptions in other countries, which often represents a risk for hospitals or\nhealthcare services. Health, in terms of guaranteeing the corresponding payment,\nor in case they is increased for any reason, or that the patient requires\nadditional care after the procedure, among other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panama has remowned\nprofessionals in the health industry with international achievements. How can\nwe capitalize on it to support the development of our country brand around the\nworld?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn Panama we\noffer state-of-the-art health services with professional, trained personnel and\ntechnology at the level of many hospitals in the United States and Europe. However,\nthe volume of care is not the same, which is an obstacle to compete with these\nlarge hospitals abroad. We must, together with the State, promote our services\nto places or countries where their services are not so competitive and \/ or\naffordable, and thus together publicize our advantages and service capacity in\nthis sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
