Zarate,\nDora P. de Zarate, Jose\nNieves Angulo, Pancho Castillo, Casimiro Smith, Reyin Espino, To\u00f1o Saavedra, Benjamin\nDominguez, Dr. Baltasar Isaza, Juan Ehrman, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The motive of this group of folklorists was to rescue,\nexalt and promote the traditions of the region and popular culture of the\ncountry man, with the aim that the peasants feel pride and a sense of belonging\nto their cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thevisitorpanama.info\/esp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Festival_de_Guarare%CC%81_-_Cucua.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8128\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Little History<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first La Mejorana Festival took place in September\n1949, together with the patronal feast of the Virgen de las Mercedes de Guarare, continuing to\nthis day. In 1955, the Mejorana Festival was declared, a National Festival of\nthe Panamanian Tradition. This year the celebration will be from September 23\nto 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mejorana\nNational Festival born from the fact that La Mejorana is the most prominent and\nauthentic instrument in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Activities During the Festival<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thevisitorpanama.info\/esp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Za%CC%81rate1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8129\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the activities this year will still take place\nvirtually, however, here are several of the folkloric activities that will be\nfeatured:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Contests for Written Tenths\nand Sung Tenths<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Toque de Marjoram Contest<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Children&#8217;s Drum Contest<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Children&#8217;s Accordion Contest\n&#8220;Didio Borrero&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Clothing Contest: Male and\nFemale Work Mode, among these we have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Male Ponytail (shirt) for\nParty<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Montuna Festival Skirt<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Participation of Folkloric\nEnsembles<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Cart Competition<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information on the\nactivities: www.festivalnacionaldelamejorana.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Mejorana National Festival is an event created in the middle of the last century by prominent folklorists from the Azuero region such as Prof. Manuel F.
